Review of my Three Favorite Mascaras
It’s no secret that I love makeup. There are a lot of things, when it comes to makeup, that I can get away buying from the drugstore but the one thing I never skimp on is my mascara. Having great eyelashes adds so much to every look so I decided to take three of my favorite mascaras and compare them for you. I wrote up a little review about each mascara and I am also going to rate them on a scale from 1-10 on volume, length, ability to stay put all day, no clumping and the packaging.
In order to compare the mascaras I started by wearing them side by side (one on the right eye and a different one on the left). I tried out all the combinations to really see clearly how they wore next to each other and then I rate them on the criteria below.

What I Loved: This mascara never clumps for me at all and it completely stays put. It’s about as close to waterproof as you can get without actually buying waterproof. It never flakes or smudges at all.
What I don’t love: I have to be honest, I don’t love the packaging. I know many people don’t care about this but packaging, for me, is an important part of the experience of getting ready in the morning. It just makes your makeup feel more fun to put on. While it gives great volume and length its not quite as dramatic as the other two brands.
Buys this if: You want a softer but still dramatic eye with a reliable wear that stays put all day.

What I love: Length and volume for days! This mascara seriously makes your eyes pop! Eccentrico is definitely the most volume and length of the three mascaras so if you want some drama on your lashes this mascara is your you gal! It stayed put all day with just a flake or two under the eye (almost nothing but not quite as good as “They’re real” in that area) and the packaging is so elegant.
What I don’t love: I had to work with this one the most to not get clumps. The mascara seems a little thicker as you are applying it. Also, as I mentioned above, it mostly stayed put but there was the tiniest bit of flaking under my eye by the end of the day.
Buy this if: You want a super elegant mascara with tons of eye catching volume and length. This was the most intense and dramatic look of the three.
Yves Saint Laurent, The Shock:

What I love: Guys! This mascara is scented! The first time I put it on I was literally shocked. I was trying to figure out what I was smelling because it smelled amazing and then I realized it was my mascara! If I could give bonus points for this I totally would! This mascara had a ton of volume and pretty good length. It was easy to apply with no clumping at all and the packaging is edgy and super fun.
What I don’t love: I had used YSL “shocking” mascara before and it flaked and smudged under my eyes. When they came out with this formula it was advertised as smudge-proof so I was super excited to try it out. I have to say it really is much better and wears fairly well throughout the day but out of all three mascaras this one left the most flakes under my eyes by the end of the day (which I should say was still fairly minimal). While the volume was seriously impressive the length fell a tiny bit short to the Armani mascara.
Buy this if: You want an edgy mascara that is easy and super fun to apply with some serious volume. This mascara really was by far my favorite to apply. From the gorgeous bottle to the light scent it’s a really fun addition to your makeup bag.
